Swim Teams Fall to Lake Forest in Home Meet
Sellers, Hild grab individual event wins
MONMOUTH, Ill. (11/19/2022) — The Monmouth College swimming teams competed in a dual meet at home against Lake Forest on Saturday. The women lost 158-44 while the men fell to the Foresters 150-31.
The Scots took first place in the women's 100 backstroke as Jaidlyn Sellers (Tremont, Illinois) won the event in 1:04.22. The men got first place in the 1000 freestyle as Brady Hild (Tremont, Illinois) grabbed all the points in 13:03.42. Lake Forest took the top two spots in every other event.
In the women's race, the Scots took third in the 400 medley relay and fourth in the 400 freestyle relay. Sellers added a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 26.98. Nicole Fitch (Marengo, Illinois) finished third in both the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle. Lauren Fulscher (Moline, Illinois) was fourth in the 200 freestyle, Kaitlyn Fox (Villa Park, Illinois) was third in the 1000 freestyle, just ahead of Evelyn Schaefer (Stoughton, Wisconsin) and Andrea Tapia (Merrillville, Indiana) was fourth in the 100 breaststroke.
On the men's side, the Scots finished third in both relays. Ethan Main (Oneida, Illinois) was third in the 100 breaststroke, HIld was third in the 100 backstroke, Tristan Kennon (Flossmoor, Illinois) was third in the 100 freestyle and Jayden Wilbon (Crown Point, Indiana) was third in the 100 butterfly. Kennon added a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle.
The Scots will be in action at the Principia Invite Dec. 2-3. The next home meet is against Quincy University and Knox College on Friday, Jan. 13.
