Swim Teams Sweep Millikin on Saturday

MONMOUTH, Ill. (11/16/2025) — The Monmouth College swim teams swept Millikin on Saturday with the men securing the win on the final relay of the day. The women won 100-89 while the men won 91.5-82.5 at the Decatur Family YMCA. Tariq McLarty (South Holland, Illinois) won two individual events on Saturday and swam in two winning relays, including the meet-clinching swim.

"It's always great to get a win on both sides," said head coach Jake Dacus. "Close meets like today never disappoint and make it fun to get up and compete. We knew every race would be important and it was great to see the toughness and the fight our team has, doing everything they could to get their hand to the wall first."

WOMEN

The 200 medley relay team of Cally Tate (Monmouth, Illinois), Allie Warren (Galesburg, Illinois), Nicole Fitch (Marengo, Illinois) and Nora Collins (Hopedale, Illinois) won the first race of the day in 1:58.25.

Warren won the 200 IM in 2:20.38 with Tate in second at 2:26.72. Warren also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.41 with Collins in third in 1:18.06. Tate won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.57.

Caitlin Stewart (Monmouth, Illinois) won the 500 freestyle by 14 seconds with a time of 5:42.25 and she won the 1000 freestyle by 38 seconds with a time of 11:40.79. She also took second in the 100 butterfly in 1:08.02 with Addie Zamora (Arma, Kansas) in third at 1:15.22

Addie Smith (Monmouth, Illinois) took second to Stewart in the 500 freestyle in 5:56.37 and she was also in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:12.07. Fitch was third in the 500 free in 6:00.20 and fourth in the 200 free in 2:16.77 while Zamora was fifth in 2:16.92, Smith was third in the 100 freestyle in 1:01.44 with Claire LaBadie (Griffith, Indiana) in fifth in 1:03.56

Collins was second in the 50 free in 27.39 seconds while LaBadie took fourth in 28.29.

The women's 400 medley relay team of Tate, Warren, Stewart and Smith won by nearly eight seconds with a time of 4:23.70. The 400 freestyle relay of Fitch, Tate, Stewart and Smith won in 3:57.75.

MEN

McLarty won the 200 freestyle by nearly eight seconds with a time of 1:51.01. Luke Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) took fourth in 2:05.25. McLarty also won the 100 butterfly in 54.72 seconds with Jordan Bridgford (Kapolei, Hawai'i) in fourth at 1:01.83.

Foster won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.70. Bridgford won the 200 IM in 2:15.42 with Ethan Main (Oneida, Illinois) in third at 2:18.09. Bridgford also won the 500 free in 5:42.24 with a 95 second gap.

Bucket Youvan (Rochester, Indiana) tied for first in the 50 freestyle in 23.13 seconds. He was second in the 100 free in 51.91 with Main in third at 53.96. Main was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.76.

The men's 200 medley relay team of Foster, Main, McLarty and Youcan won with a time of 1:44.38. The men's 200 freestyle relay won the race in 1:34.01 seconds. Youvan, Bridgford, Foster and McLarty swam the meet deciding race with McLarty pulling out the win with a 21.88 second split.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: The Scots head to the Mid-Season meet at Beloit next weekend ... The meet starts on Friday and lasts for three days ... The Scots also swept both meets against Millikin last season ... Monmouth hosts Millikin on Jan. 23 ... The next home meet is Jan. 17 against North Central.
