Tate, Warren, McLarty Post Wins in First Swim Meet of Season

Scots fall to Augustana in dual meet

MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/25/2025) — The Monmouth College swim teams started their 2025-26 season with a home meet against Augustana on Friday night. The women lost 134-50 while the men fell 149-28. The Scots had three individual wins on the night as Cally Tate (Monmouth, Illinois) won the 100 backstroke, Allie Warren (Galesburg, Illinois) won the 100 breaststroke and Tariq McLarty (South Holland, Illinois) won the 100 butterfly.

"I was really pleased with how we swam tonight," said head coach Jake Dacus. "We were excited to get off the blocks and race another team for the first time this year, but Augie is always a tough way to start out dual meet season. We had a number of fantastic swims over the course of the meet."

WOMEN

Tate won her signature event, the 100 backstroke, with a time of 1:02.26. She also placed third in the 50 yard freestyle in 26.11 seconds

Warren won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of. She also took second place in the 200 individual medley in 2:21.85, less than a half second behind the Augie swimmer. .

Caitlyn Stewart (Monmouth, Illinois) took third in the 500 freestyle in 5:37.53 just ahead of teammate Addie Smith (Monmouth, Illinois). Smith also finished fourth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:10.73.

Freshman Nora Collins (Hopedale, Illinois) had a pair of top four finishes as she placed fourth in the 50 freestyle in 26.66 and fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:16.39.

Freshman Addie Zamora (Arma, Kansas) was third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:01.36 while Claire LaBadie (Griffith, Indiana) was fifth in 1:03.21.

The women's 200 medley relay of Tate, Lea Schmitt (Rockford, Illinois), Stewart and LaBadie took second in 1:57.73. The women's 200 freestyle relay of Smith, Zamora, Collins and Warren took third in 1:51.10.

MEN

McLarty won the 100 butterfly, an event in which he holds the school record, with a time of 52.57.

Luke Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) took third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.04, with teammate Jordan Bridgford (Kapolei, Hawai'i) in fifth at 1:01.13. Foster also placed fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.40.

Bucket Youvan (Rochester, Indiana) was third in the 50 freestyle in 22.84. He took fifth in the 100 freestyle in 52.44 seconds.

Kody Coyne (Bluffton, Indiana) was fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.09, just ahead of Ethan Main (Oneida, Illinois) in 1:07.35.

The men's 200 medley relay team of Bridgford, Main, McLarty and Youvan took third in 1:44.41. The 200 freestyle relay team of McLarty, Main, Foster and Youvan swam 1:34.60 in an exhibition swim without scoring points.

"While there were some things we need to work on in the coming weeks, there were far more positive swims from tonight that will really set the tone for us moving forward," said Dacus. "We've got a stretch of what should be pretty competitive meets coming up the next few weekends and we're looking forward to seeing how we continue to improve."

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Collins and Zamora made their college debuts for the women's team ... The Scots and Vikings will swim against each other again in Rock Island on Jan. 10 in a tri-meet with Coe ... The Scots are next in action when they host the multi-team Monmouth Invite at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.
