Tennis Loses Twice on Saturday

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/13/2024) — The Monmouth College men's tennis team lost a pair of Midwest Conference matches 9-0 on Saturday. The Scots played a morning match at home against Lawrence and then faced Ripon in the afternoon.

Sawyer Day (Kansas City, Missouri) and Spencer Corn (Cupertino, California) played at No. 1 doubles. They fell 8-1 to Lawrence and 8-3 to Ripon. Andrew Nichols (Janesville, Wisconsin) and Macaden Sepich (Mackinaw, Illinois) played at No. 2 doubles falling 8-0 and 8-2, The Scots do not have a No. 3 doubles team.

Day played at No. 1 singles and lost 6-1, 6-1 to Lawrence and 6-1, 6-4 to Ripon. Sepich lost in 3-sets in both matches. He played at No. 4 against Lawrence and No. 2 against Ripon. Corn played at No. 2 against the Vikings and No. 3 against Ripon with straight set losses. Nickols lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 to Lawrence and 7-5, 6-1 to Ripon at No. 4. Nehemiah Declaw (Aurora, Colorado) played NO. 5 and lost 6-0, 6-0 in both matches.

Monmouth hosts Webster at Noon on Sunday and Illinois College at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday for Senior Day. The women will also play Webster on Sunday in a match that was originally scheduled for March 29.
