by Nathan Baliva

MONMOUTH, Ill. (01/23/2024) — Monmouth College track and field senior Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Male Field Performer of the Week on Tuesday. At Saturday's Monmouth Midwest Invitational, Toberman won the weight throw and the shot put.

He won the shot put by 1.55m with a MWC best throw of 14.90m which ranks 50th in Division III this season. The throw is the best in the MWC by almost a full meter.

Toberman also won the weight throw with a season-best 17.79m which ranks 2nd in the MWC (behind teammate Shane Anderson) and 16th in D3 this season. Four of Toberman's six throws on Saturday in the weight sailed past 17.25m.

This marks the second time this season in two meets that a Monmouth thrower has won the MWC Performer of the Week award as Anderson took the honor after the season opening meet.

Toberman was honored as Performer of the Week twice last year during the indoor season en route to being a NCAA National Qualifier. The Scots will compete on Saturday at the Grinnell Invitational in Iowa.
