by Nathan Baliva

MONMOUTH, Ill. (05/14/2026) — Monmouth College senior throwers JIllian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) and Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) competed at the Last Chance Qualifier at Augustana college on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday, Toth set a PR in the hammer throw at 55.15m, improving on her winning throw of 54.96m at the Midwest Conference Championships. She has the second-best throw in Monmouth history behind Allie Devor's school record of 58.18m at the 2013 NCAA Championships.

On Thursday, Braun threw in the discus and finished fifth with a new PR of 42.21m, just outside the Monmouth top 10. She improved on her PR from last month, also in Rock Island, by a half meter.

Braun finished second in the shot put at 13.70m, leaving her PR at 14.00m from the home meet on April 23. Toth was 11th in the shot put at 11.98m.

Both Braun and Toth are in position to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships next week in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. They both qualified last year and would be the first women to throw in consecutive NCAA Championships since Erin Maul in 2014 and 2015. The official list of qualifiers will be announced on Sunday.
