Track & Field Close Regular Season with Home Meet, Senior Day
MONMOUTH, Ill. (05/05/2024) — The Monmouth College track and field teams hosted the Monmouth Midwest invitational on Saturday, the final regular season meet of the outdoor campaign. The Scots hosted the meet with MWC foes Knox, Illinois College, Grinnell and Cornell, plus Sauk Valley and Heartland CC.
MEN
Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) won the discus with the 10th best throw in school history at 48.07m. The new career-best throw puts Toberman in the top 40 nationally. Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) also PR'd in the discus and took third at 42.09m while Jeff Schnetzler (Metamora, Illinois) took fifth with a PR of 41.09m.
Toberman also won the shot put at 15.37m with Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) in second at 14.07m and Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) in third at 13.66m. Toberman took second in the hammer at 54.82m with Anderson in third and Orwig in fourth.
Bryant won the javelin at 46.51m with Colton Hutson (Mt. Pleasant, Iowa) in second at 42.87m.
Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) took second in the 100m race in a career-best time of 10.98 seconds. Elijah Cherelus (Kissimmee, Florida) won his heat and was fifth overall in a PR time of 11.17.
Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) took second in the. 200m race with a time of 22.45 and Patterson was third in 22.51. Cherelus and Patrick Curry Jr, (Chicago, Illinois) tied for fifth in 23.29.
Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) won the 800m race with a season-best time of 1:55.84, less than a half second off his career-best.
The 4x400m relay team of Curry, Newton, Patterson and Outlaw won the final race of the day in 3:24.98. The 4x100m relay team of Outlaw, Curry, Patterson and Bryson Thomas (Galesburg, Illinois) finished third in 43.25.
Xander Stoub (Palos Heights, Illinois) finished second in the 3000m steeplechase in 11:26.49. Peter Soutsos (Highland Park, Illinois) was second in the 110m hurdles in 16.02.
Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois) took third in the 400m hurdles in 1:01.38. Morse also took second in the high jump at 1.75m with Mikey Eiker (Galesburg, Illinois) in third at 1.75m. Joey Twardowski (Mark, Illinois) was fourth at 1.70m.
WOMEN
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) won the discus with a career-best throw of 44.93m. Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) finished second at 38.86m. Boley also won the hammer at 48.67m with Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) in second at 48.49 and senior Gracie Gibbons (Altona, Illinois) in fourth at 43.74m
Braun won the shot put at 12.78m with Boley in second at 11.70m and Gibbons in third with a season-best 11.57m.
Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) won the pole vault with an outdoor career-best of 3.30m, the 7th-best in school history. Megan Dailey (Pendleton, Indiana) and Delaney Rexroat both cleared 3.00m to finish third and fifth respectively.
Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) finished fifth in the 100m race at 12.46 seconds. Emma Crofton (Neponset, Illinois) was fourth in the triple jump at 10.18m.
Senior Lindsay Eaton (Danvers, Illinois) took fifth in the 800m race with a time of 2:38.36. Senior Bethany Allen (Monmouth, Illinois) took fourth in the high jump at 1.33m.
The 4x100m relay team of Rusk, Makaiha Moore-Bell (Knoxville, Illinois), Nicole Hoyer (Montgomery, Illinois) and Tayler Raska (Galesburg, Illinois) finished third in 50.12

The Scots compete in the Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships next weekend in Jacksonville, Illinois. The two-day meet, hosted by Illinois College, starts on Friday afternoon and concludes on Saturday.
