Track & Field Seniors Celebrate Final Home Meet with Success
Peckham, Dulin, Oradiegwu among Saturday's winners
MONMOUTH, Ill. (05/08/2022) —
The Monmouth College track and field teams hosted the Fighting Scot Invite on Saturday, the last meet before the Midwest Conference Championships. Celebrating Senior Day at April Zorn Stadium, the meet featured multiple wins by Fighting Scots seniors.
Senior Jordan Peckham (Farmington, Illinois) won the 400m race with a time of 58.23. She then won the 200m race with a season-best time of 25.43.
Senior Riley Dulin (Monmouth, Illinois) won the 1500m race in a career-best 3:59.59. He's the eighth Fighting Scots runner to ever finish the event in under four minutes.
Senior Joseph Oradiegwu (Richmond, Texas) won the long jump at 7.18m,a career-high and the sixth best mark in school history, He was also second in the triple jump at 13.73m. His twin brother Jonathan Oradiegwu (Richmond, Texas) was second in the high jump at 1.91m.
Sophomore Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) won the hammer throw at 52.01m, just ahead of senior Andy Bird (Hamilton, Illinois) at 49.99m. Bird was third in the discus with a throw of 37.91m and third in the shot put at 13.61m. Sam Phillips (Cape Coral, Florida) was second in the javelin at 41.74m.
Freshman Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) won the discus with a throw of 41.30m while junior Amanda Dybal (Apex, North Carolina) was third at 38.33m. Senior Kareema Lawal (Aurora, Illinois) was second in the hammer throw at 48.17m and third in the shot put at 11.79m. Dybal was third in the hammer at 43.20m and second in the javelin at 34.03m
Freshman Lauren Anderson (Cambridge, Illinois) won the high jump at 1.48m. Junior Linsey Turner (Elburn, Illinois) won the pole vault at 3.10m.
Senior Alexander Brock (Lexington, Illinois) finished second in the 400m race with a time of 50.56. He also got third in the 200m at 23.16. Senior Kara Fisher (Monmouth, Illinois) took second in the 800m with a career-best 2:25.23, finishing just ahead of senior Mik Moore (Washington, Illinois).
The women's 4x100m relay team finished second while the men's 4x100m relay team was third.
The Midwest Conference Championships are next Friday and Saturday at Strong Stadium in Beloit, Wisconsin.
