Watson Finishes Fourth at SLIAC Men's Golf Championships
Scots Finish Ninth as Team
MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/29/2026) — The Monmouth College golf team finished ninth at the season-ending SLIAC Championships. Junior Connor Watson (Macomb, Illinois) finished in fifth place, earning All-Conference honors.
The tournament resumed the suspended second round on Tuesday morning before playing the scheduled third round. Watson finished his second round with a pair of bogeys for a 2-over round of 74 that put him in a tie for second place to start the final round. He began the final round on the 9th hole in the shotgun start and fired a birdie at both 9 and 11. After a bogey he had three straight birdies on 13-14-15 to move into sole possession of second. However, Watson bogeyed three of the next four holes and a double bogey on six pushed him down to fifth place. Watson birdied six and finished with two straight pars for a final round score of 73. His 3-round total of 71-74-73 - 218 finished in a tie for fourth, four shots behind the winner.
Jaxson Wiler (Galva, Illinois) finished the second round with a 77. He shot a 75 for the final round and finished in a tie for 20th at +13 229.
Cole Reavis (Buena Vista, Colorado) finished the suspended round with an 86 and then carded an 81 on Tuesday. He finished in 45th at +31 247,
Luke Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) posted an 82 for the suspended round and then duplicated that effort for the third round. His 3-day total of +37 253 finished in 49th place.
Thomas Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) finished his second round with an 84 and shot 91 for the final round. He finished 52nd with a total score of 261 at +45.
Playing at the Far Oaks GC in Caseyville, Illinois, Monmouth finished in ninth place out of 13 teams. The Scots were 22 strokes behind Illinois College for eighth place and fifth among Midwest Conference teams playing in the SLIAC. Grinnell won the tournament by three strokes.
