Women Fourth, Men Fifth at MWC Cross Country Championships
Monmouth Puts Four on All-Conference Teams
MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/30/2021) — The Monmouth College men's and women's cross-country teams competed Saturday in the Midwest Conference Cross Country Championships in Wisconsin. The men went first with an 8k-race and the Scots finished fifth as a team. The women followed with a 6k race and the Scots finished fourth as a team. The top 20 runners in both races were named All-Conference and Monmouth finished with four recipients.
For the men, senior Riley Dulin (Monmouth, Illinois) finished at fourth overall with a 26:34.69 which places him well within the top 20. Senior C.J. Bonifer (Columbia, Kentucky) placed at 24th with the next fastest Scot time, finishing at 28:26.95. Behind Bonifer was freshman William Plumley (Geneso, Illinois) who placed 30th with a 28:40.07 time, freshman Xavion York (Palo Seco, Trinidad & Tobago) who placed 45th at 29:49.09, and freshman Eli Newton (Dallas City ,Illinois) who placed 47th with a time of 29:51.93.
On the women's side, senior Arika Hofmann (Monmouth, Illinois) was the Scots' top finisher with a 24:11.83 which ranks ninth in the meet. Senior Ezzie Baltierra-Chavez (Denver, Colorado) placed 12th with a 24:29.24 time and senior Mik Moore (Washington, Illinois) placed 15th with a time of 24:51.43. With their placements in the top 20, Hofmann, Baltierra-Chavez, and Moore have secured a spot in All-Conference. The next highest finisher was senior Kara Fisher (Monmouth, Illinois) at 28th with a time of 25:50.26 and behind her was junior Gabriella Peterson (Southwick, Massachusetts) who placed 41st with a 26:53.86 time.
