Women's Soccer Falls at Central

Jordyn Gosell Scores in Second Straight Game

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/16/2021) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team scored first on Wednesday night but ultimately lost at Central 5-1. Senior Jordyn Gosell (Antioch, Illinois) scored in the 25 minute to give the Scots the lead. The goal is the second of the season and second in as many games for Gosell while senior Sarah Poirier (Lombard, Illinois) had the assist.

Central tied the game five minutes later and the contest was still tied at half time. The Dutch broke the game open with three goals in 2:31 in the second half. The grabbed an unassisted goal at 53:21 and added on at 54:10 and 55:52 for the 4-1 lead. The final goal of the game was scored by the hosts at 84:35.

The Scots did not record a shot in the second half and were out shot 14-6 for the game, 10-0 in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Quinn Cutler (Breese, Illinois) made three saves in 69 minutes of action. Lea Selquist (Peru, Illinois) made her college debut with three saves and one goal allowed in 21 minutes. The Scots (0-5) are next in action at home against Buena Vista at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
