Women's Soccer Loses at Augie on Wednesday

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/19/2024) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team gave up a goal in the first 30 seconds and never recovered, falling 6-0 at Augustana on Wednesday night. The Scots (2-3-2) will be back in action at home on Saturday.

Augustana posted four goals in the first half, all by the same player. Liesi Whitener scored 17 seconds into the game and made it 2-0 two minutes later. She completed her hat trick in the 13th minute and made it 4-0 before the 20-minute mark.

Monmouth goalkeeper Anna Caster (Greenfield, Indiana) made six saves for the game. Augustana scored twice in the second half with goals in the 73rd and 79th minutes.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Avery Parks (Bloomington, Illinois), Taylor Freeman (Washington, Illinois) and Caster played all 90 minutes ... Caster went over the 1900 minutes played mark and she ranks eighth on the Scots list for minutes played by a goalkeeper ... Augie outshot Monmouth 25-4 and shots on goal were 14-2 ... Monmouth had shots on goal by Brooke Gruby (Leonardtown, Maryland) and Mariah Hobson (Princeton, Illinois), both in the second half ... Last year the teams drew 2-2 in Monmouth ... The Scots play at home ons Saturday with a 10 a.m. kickoff against Illinois Wesleyan.
