Women's Soccer Starts 2025 Season on Road
Home Opener Set for September 8
MONMOUTH, Ill. (07/02/2025) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team kicks off their 31st season with a 3-game road trip before a mid-week home opener. The Fighting Scots start Midwest Conference play at home at the end of September and finish at home in November. The 2025 season will be the fifth under head coach Lucas Henderson.
Coming off a fifth-place finish in MWC action at 3-3-2, the Scots get going with a road game at Eureka on August 29. Last season the Scots beat the Red Devils at home 10-0 and hold a 3-0 all-time record against the SLIAC squad.
Monmouth heads back across the state four days later to face Millikin. The Big Blue made the CCIW semifinals a year ago, won in Monmouth 2-0 and hold an 8-0-1 lead in the all-time series.
The Scots complete the early road trip with their first-ever meeting against Lakeland University. The contest against the Muskies takes place on Saturday, September 6 at Taylor Field in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
Monmouth's home opener is set for Monday, September 8 at 5 p.m. against Blackburn. The teams last met in 2018, a 9-0 win for the Scots who are 7-1 with a 4-match win streak against the Beavers.
After a trip over to Illinois Wesleyan on September 10, the Scots return home for two straight. IWU won 8-3 against Monmouth last season and are 8-0 all-time in the series. The Scots play host to Buena Vista on September 13 in the second game of a DH with the men. Monmouth lost to BVU on the road last year 2-1 after winning the first three meetings between the schools. The Scots finish the mini homestand with a 5 p.m. kickoff against Coe on September 17. The Scots and Kohawks drew 0-0 last year and Coe leads the series 9-6-3.
Monmouth heads to Missouri and Iowa for two more non-conference games in September. First up is a first-ever meeting against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis on Saturday, September 20. Four days later the Scots play in Iowa against Simpson. The teams last met in 2021 and are 2-2 all-time.
Midwest Conference play starts with Senior Day on Saturday, September 27 as the Scots host Beloit. The women play first this season so kickoff is set for 11 a.m. while football is on the bye week. Monmouth leads the all-time series 15-8-5 and the last two games have ended in draws.
September ends with a trip to Grinnell for a Tuesday afternoon kickoff. The Scots and Pioneers drew 1-1 to end last season in Monmouth and GC holds a 27-4-2 all-time advantage.
After a bye week, the Scots head to Knox for a second straight season. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. on October 8. Monmouth won in Galesburg 3-1 last October after winning at home 3-0 in 2023. All-time the Scots lead the rivalry series 19-15-1.
The Scots return home for a Fall Break game at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 11 against Lawrence. The Vikings won the Midwest Conference Tournament last season and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. They beat the Scots 4-0 and hold a 13-10-4 all-time record in the series.
Three days later the Scots are back at Peacock Park for a 3 p.m. Tuesday kickoff against Illinois College. The Lady Blues won 2-1 in Monmouth last season but the Scots have dominated the series historically with a 21-10-2 record.
While Monmouth celebrated homecoming on campus, the soccer teams will be in northern Wisconsin for a DH at Ripon. Last year the Scots won 4-2 at home against the Red Hawks and lead the series 21-6.
Another Saturday DH comes on October 25 with the Scots at Cornell. Monmouth beat the Rams 2-0 each of the last two seasons and lead the all-time series 16-11-1.
The Fighting Scots take a break from MWC action and head back to Wisconsin on Tuesday, October 28 for a first-ever meeting against Wisconsin-Whitewater. Last season the Warhawks qualified for the WIAC Tournament and lost on penalty kicks in the first round.
Monmouth finishes the regular season at home on Saturday, November 1 with an 11 a.m. kickoff against Lake Forest. The Foresters tied Lawrence for the top record in the regular season last year and hosted the MWC Tournament, falling to the Vikings. They beat Monmouth 7-0 in Lake Forest last October for a fourth straight win in a series they lead 20-7-1.
Overall the Scots are scheduled to play 18 games, seven at home and 11 on the road. Eight games are set for Saturday while the Scots play once on Friday, twice on Monday and seven midweek games. The Scots will play three times in Wisconsin and Iowa, once in Missouri and 11 times in Illinois.
