Zay Brown Named MWC Performer of the Week

MONMOUTH, Ill. (01/27/2025) — Monmouth College men's basketball freshman Zay Brown (Peoria, Illinois) put up another great week helping the Scots to a 2-0 week and sole possession of first place in the MWC standings.

Brown had 23 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double at Grinnell as the Scots moved into a tie for first on Wednesday night with a 102-99 win on the road. He was 10-for-19 from the field and added a career-high six assists with two blocks and a steal. Brown also led the Scots in scoring in a home win over Lawrence on Saturday to take over sole possession of first at 7-2 in MWC play. Brown was 8-for-13 from the field, 5-for-5 at the line and scored 22 points with 8 rebounds and two blocks. For the week he was 18-for-32 (.563) from the field, 8-for-11 at the line and averaged 22.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per game.

The Scots will play at Lake Forest on Saturday and at Knox on Saturday. The next home game is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 5 against Illinois College.
