Zay Brown Named MWC Performer of the Week

MONMOUTH, Ill. (01/21/2026) — Monmouth College men's basketball player Zay Brown (Peoria, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday, adding to his D3hoops.com Team of the Week honor from earlier in the day.

Brown led the Scots to two wins last week, starting with a career-high 34 points on Tuesday in a 1st place battle against Grinnell. He added 10 rebounds and four assists as the Scots won by 12. On the road Saturday, Brown made 12 of 16 shots and scored 28 points in a 13-point win at Lawrence to move Monmouth to 8-0 in MWC play. He added nine rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals. For the week Brown averaged 31 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, shooting 62% from the field and 77% from the line.

Brown is Monmouth's first basketball Performer of the Week for this season. He won the award four times last year no his way to the MWC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors.

The Scots will play at Lake Forest on Wednesday night before having a bye this weekend. Monmouth returns home for two games next week against Cornell on Tuesday and Beloit on Saturday.
