Zay Brown Named to D3hoops Team of the Week

MONMOUTH, Ill. (01/20/2026) — Monmouth College men's basketball player Zay Brown (Peoria, Illinois) was named to the 5-man D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Tuesday. Brown, a sophomore. is Monmouth's first selection to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week since Will Carius made the team twice in 2019.

Brown led the Scots to two wins last week, starting with a career-high 34 points on Tuesday in a 1st place battle against Grinnell. He added 10 rebounds and four assists as the Scots won by 12. On the road Saturday, Brown made 12 of 16 shots and scored 28 points in a 13-point win at Lawrence to move Monmouth to 8-0 in MWC play. He added nine rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals. For the week Brown averaged 31 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, shooting 62% from the field and 77% from the line.

Since the Team of the Week began in 1998, five Monmouth players have earned the honor a total of seven times. Chris Hebeler was first in December 2005 followed by Justin Aluya twice in February 2018. Carius earned the honor in both January and February 2019 before Brown was chosen on Tuesday.

The Scots will play at Lake Forest on Wednesday night before having a bye this weekend. Monmouth returns home for two games next week against Cornell on Tuesday and Beloit on Saturday.
