Cox, Relay Team Post Wins Friday Night at Hilltop Classic

Scots return to IC for MWC Championships next weekend

MONMOUTH, Ill (02/18/2023) — NOTE: Full results have not yet been provided by the host school.

The Monmouth College track and field teams had multiple winners on Friday night at the Hilltop Classic in Jacksonville, the final meet of the indoor regular season. The teams return to Jacksonville next weekend for the Midwest Conference Indoor Championships, hosted by Illinois College.

Women

Addi Cox (Morton, Illinois) grabbed another individual win as her throw of 15.52m won the weight throw. The Scots finished 1-2-3 in the event as Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) finished second at 15.46 and Amanda Dybal (Apex, North Carolina) was third at 15.42. Boley also finished second in the shot put at 12.17m with Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) in fourth at 12.04m.

The Scots also won the 4x200m relay in a time of 1:52.53. Alyssa Villarreal (Galesburg, Illinois), Linsey Turner (Elburn, Illinois), Ally Celus (Annawan, Illinois) and Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) cruised to the line in first place.

Villarreal took third in the long jump at 4.96m while Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) was fourth in the pole vault at 3.05m and Carina Engst (Bloomington, Illinois) was fourth in the triple jump at 10.21m

Men

Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) took second in the weight throw at 17.47m just ahead of teammate Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) at 17.24m. Toberman was third in the shot put at 14.15m with Sam Phillips (Cape Coral, Florida) in fourth at 13.22m.

Reed Wilson (Normal, Illinois) tied for first in the pole vault at 4.60m but took second place on tiebreakers.Luke Ditsworth (Oquawka, Illinois) was fourth in the 200m in 23.16 and Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) was fourth in the 400m with a time of 52.38.

The Scots return to Jacksonville, Illinois for the Midwest Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Illinois College on Feb. 24 and 25.
