Scots Win Four Events at Saturday's Grinnell Invitational
Wilson, Turner Sweep Pole Vault Wins
MONMOUTH, Ill. (01/29/2023) — The Monmouth College men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Grinnell Invitation on Saturday, winning four events. The men had two individual wins, plus a relay win, while the women had an individual win.
Men
Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) won the weight throw with a toss of 16.08m. It marks the third straight meet in which a Monmouth male has won the weight throw this season. Toberman also finished third in the shot put at 13.97m
Reed Wilson (Normal, Illinois) won the pole vault as he cleared 4.67m. Wilson has won the pole vault at 11 indoor team meets in his career including eight in a row dating back to last season. Riley Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) was third at 3.77m
The 4x400m relay team of Patrick Curry Jr. (Chicago, Illinois), Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois), Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) and Reed Bona (Dyersburg, Tennessee) won the event in 3:30.69 The 4x200m relay team of Luke Ditsworth (Oquawka, Illinois), Bona, Bernas and Outlaw took second with a time of 1:32.34.
Curry took fourth in the high jump at 1.81m. Maurice Greene (Galesburg, Illinois) was fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.25m. Ditsworth took fourth in the 200m race at 23.11.
Women
Linsey Turner (Elburn, Illinois) won the pole vault at 3.22m while Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) took fourth at 3.09m
The Scots finished 2-3 in the weight throw as Amanda Dybal (Apex, North Carolina) placed second with a throw of 15.18m, just ahead of Addi Cox (Morton, Illinois) at 15.08m. Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) took third in the shot put at 12.14m
Lauren Anderson (Cambridge, Illinois) was fourth in the high jump at 1.49m. Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) and Anderson tied for third in the long jump at 4.63m. Carina Engst (Bloomington, Illinois) took second in the triple jump at 9.78m.
The women's 4x200m relay team of Alyssa Villarreal (Galesburg, Illinois), Turner, Ally Celus (Annawan, Illinois) and Anderson took third in 1:53.76.
The Scots will next be in action on Saturday, Feb. 4 when they head to the Keck Select at the Shirk Center on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.
