MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/09/2023) — The Monmouth College softball team split a Midwest Conference doubleheader on Saturday against Lawrence. The games were moved to Green Bay and the Scots (8-14, 2-4) dropped the opener 11-3 and won the nightcap 7-2

Lawrence took a 2-0 lead against Lizzie Durfee (Arlington, Washington) in the first inning. The Scots answered in the second as Kendall Lewis (Cambridge, Illinois) and Biancha Luna (Monmouth, Illinois) had back-to-back doubles.

Lawrence took a 4-1 lead and the Scots answered in the third. Vanessa Wright (Villa Grove, Illinois) singled to right and scored on a double by MyKenzie Kloess (Dupo, Illinois).

Kloess delivered a sacrifice fly after Calista Warmowski (Spring Grove, Illinois) tripled in the fifth. Lawrence finished off the game with six runs in the fifth to win 11-3 on the mercy rule.
