Anderson Delivers Top Throw in Nation at Roger Haynes Invitational

Scots set more than 20 PRs

MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/16/2025) — The Monmouth College men's and women's track and field teams hosted the Roger Haynes Invitational on Saturday. The meet included teams from Knox, Illinois College, Coe, Eureka, Illinois Wesleyan, Millikin and Sauk Valley CC.

MEN

Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) won the weight throw with a new PR of 19.88m, the third-best throw in school history and the best throw so far this season in the nation for Division III. Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) took second at 19.01m with the fourth-best throw in school history and Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) was fourth at 16.50m

Toberman won the shot put at 16.27m with Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) in second at 14.45m and Anderson in fourth at 13.83m.

Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) won the mile in 4:19.99, tied with Riley Dulin from 2022 for the fourth-best indoor mile in school history.

Johnny York (Elmwood, Illinois) won the 60m race with a PR of 7.06, just beating Kani Carson (Lincoln, Illinois) at the tape. The 7.06 seconds is tied for the ninth-best in school history.

Janius Taylor (Lakeland, Florida) won the 200m race in 22.56 with Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) in third at 22.84.

Matthew Bright (Macomb, Illinois) won the pole vault at 3.45m.

Tashawn Ruffin (Bloomington, Illinois) won the triple jump with a PR of 13.68m while Damone Johnson (Macomb, Illinois) took fourth at 11.43m

Ruffin also took third in the long jump with a season-best 6.31m and York took fourth with a PR of 6.31m.

Patrick Curry (Chicago, Illinois) was second in the high jump at 1.77m while James Gustafson (Chicago, Illinois) was fourth at 1.72m.

William Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) took third in the 5000m in 16:27.23

The men's 4x200m relay team of Taylor, Patterson, Carson and Curry won with a time of 1:31.12

WOMEN

Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) won the shot put at 13.37m with Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) in second at 12.18m and Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) in third at 12.11m.

Boley also won the weight throw at 17.65m with Toth in second on a PR of 16.76m. Braun took third at 15.12m and Brynn Hogan (Galena, Missouri) was fourth with a PR of 14.47m.

Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) won the pole vault at new PR of 3.52m, the fourth-best indoor vault in Monmouth history. Megan Dailey (Pendleton, Indiana) took third at 3.07m.

Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) won the mile in 5:48.74 just ahead of teammate Danielle Johnson (Annawan, Illinois) in 5:49.52. Costello also took second in the 3000m run in 11:27.31 while Paige Luntsford (Cairo, Missouri) was fourth in 11:52.35, a new PR by more than 20 seconds.

Johnson won the 800 in 2:36.68 while Melissa Bivolarov (Arlington Heights, Illinois) took second in 2:39.32.

Madison Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) was second in the long jump with a season-best 5.08m.
Lauren Anderson (Cembridge, Illinois) took third in the high jump with a season-best 1.40m. Rusk was also fourth in the 200m with a season-best time of 27.14.

Natalie Gonzalez (Galesburg, Illinois) took fourth in the 60m hurdles with a PR of 10.99 seconds.

The 4x200m relay team of Rusk, Gonzalez, Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) and Moore-Bell finished third in 1:50.70.
