Boley Delivers Nation's Best Discus Throw of 2025 as Seven Scots Win on Saturday

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/06/2025) — The Monmouth College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Viking Olympics, hosted by Augustana College on Saturday. Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) delivered the top discus throw in the nation for DIII while Tashawn Ruffin (Bloomington, Illinois), Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois), Janius Taylor (Lakeland, Florida), Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois), Paige Luntsford (Cairo, Missouri) and the men's 4x400 relay team also picked up wins on Saturday.

MEN
Taylor won the 200m race in 22.01 seconds with Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) in fourth at a 22.40 PR. Patterson also placed third in the 100m at 11.21 seconds with Taylor fourth at 11.26 and Johnny York (Elmwood, Illinois) in fifth at 11.79.

The men's 4x400m team of Patterson, Taylor, Kani Carson (Lincoln, Illinois) and Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) won the relay with a time of 3:24.43.

Ruffin won the triple jump for the second week in a row as he went 13.32m.

Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) took third in the hammer throw at 52.96m. Colton Hutson (Mount Pleasant, Iowa) was fourth in the javelin with a PR of 47.09m.

Payton Crims (Alsip, Illinois) was third in the long jump with a PR of 6.41m.

WOMEN
Boley won the discus with a throw of 49.06m, the top throw for any Division III competitor so far this season and the second-best throw in Monmouth history. The school record is 50.14m by M Club Hall of Famer Tanesha Hughes in 2009.

Toth won the hammer throw with a PR of 53.77m, the second-best throw in MC history and top 10 in the nation for 2025. The school record in the hammer is 58.18m by M Club Hall of Famer Allie Devor at the 2013 NCAA Championships. Boley took third in the hammer at 50.34m.

Rusk won the long jump at 5.21m and took second in the 100m in 12.60 seconds. Makaiha Moore-Bell took fourth in the 100 in 12.75 seconds and Rusk also took sixth in the 200m at 26.62.

Luntsford won the 5000m in 19:58.01.

Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) took second in the pole vault at 3.20m. Megan Dailey (Pendleton, Indiana) also cleared 3.20m for third and Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) took fifth at 2.90m.

Natalie Gonzalez (Galesburg, Illinois) took fourth in both the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. She ran 17.89 in the 100 and 1:15.63 in the 400.

Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) took third in the shot put at 12.53m with Boley in fifth at 12.23m.

The Scots head to Grinnell, Iowa next Saturday for the Dick Young Classic.
