Family harmonies on tap as Rockland Road presents next MLCCS concert March 19 at Monmouth College
Monmouth, Ill. (03/14/2024) — Six family members plus 23 different instruments figure to add up to an unforgettable night of music on Monmouth College's campus.
Rockland Road - a band comprised of parents Jamie and Paul Martin and their four children - will present the next event in the Maple Leaf Community Concert Series at 7 p.m. March 19 in the Kasch Performance Hall of Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.
Admission is free to individuals with a Monmouth College ID. For others, tickets are available at the door or in advance at the Buchanan Center for the Arts in downtown Monmouth.
It will be a more intimate setting than how the band ended the year 2023, singing the national anthem in front of 60,000 fans at the Music City Bowl in Nashville.
Known for its rich, intricately layered family harmonies, Rockland Road has performed the anthem at many athletic events, including the NBA playoffs and at home games for Vanderbilt University and the Nashville Sounds minor league baseball team. The group has also performed at such venues as the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry and the White House.
The country pop group has strong ties to the Oak Ridge Boys. Jamie's father is Oak Ridge Boys singer Duane Allen, and Paul formerly played with the group. The name Rockland Road came from the address of the Oak Ridge Boys' old recording studio.
