Gallis Nets League Honor in 'Homecoming' Games
Monmouth, IL (12/23/2019) — Playing in her home state for the first time in her Monmouth College career, Becca Gallis (Kernville, Calif./Kern Valley) brought home the Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Performer of the Week honors.
Gallis had a triumphant return to her home state last week, helping Monmouth to a .500 record in California as the Scots opened with a victory over UC-Santa Cruz before meeting No. 15 Transylvania. The senior from Kernville, Calif., hit the game-winning bucket with 2.1 seconds left in Tuesday night's 59-57 win over the Banana Slugs to finish with a game-high 23 points. The scenario nearly repeated itself Wednesday, but Gallis' running jumper in the final second missed its mark in a 55-52 loss to Transylvania, ranked 15th in the national coaches' poll. For the week, Gallis averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting .500 (4-of-8) from 3-point range. She also made 7-of-8 (.875) free throws while in the Golden State.
An exercise science major, Gallis is the daughter of William and Sheila Gallis.
