Monmouth College Football Sets Cleanup Day for April 17
Assistance is free to Monmouth residents
MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/05/2021) — After missing out last year because of the pandemic, the Monmouth College football team is ready to get back in action with their Spring Cleanup Day. This year's event will be held from 8 am to noon on Saturday, April 17.
This is the 12th time in the last 13th years the Fighting Scots football team will provide area residents assistance with household spring cleaning and yard work chores. The assistance is free of charge and available on a first come, first-served bases to residents within the Monmouth city limits.
The players and staff members will wear masks and all people interacting with them are also asked to wear masks for the safety of everyone involved. Residents will be required to supply any necessary equipment to complete the needed tasks such as cleaning supplies, trash bags or tools. Photos and video from the cleanup may appear on the Monmouth website and social media accounts.
"We are excited to get back out there and help in any way we can," said head coach Chad Braun. "We missed out last year and this is something we all enjoy doing. Those interested in participating should contact Coach Russell immediately and get signed up."
Anyone looking for assistance from the players on Cleanup Day should contact coach Mitch Russell at mrussell@monmouthcollege.edu or by calling 309-457-2178. The deadline to signup is Wednesday, April 14. All requests should include the address of the cleanup location, a telephone contact number, the name of the person who will be at the location on April 17 and a description of the cleanup job.
The team will haul trash to the street but will not transport anything in a vehicle to a waste collection site or other dropoff site. An appropriate number of players will be assigned by Coach Russell depending on the jobs requested which can range from yard work to window cleaning, to furniture moving or any other spring cleaning projects.
