Monmouth College's engineering partnership with Jupiter is next Associates topic on May 21

by Barry McNamara

Monmouth, Ill. (05/13/2026) — A recent cover story in Monmouth College Magazine proclaimed that "Engineering Is Having a Moment" on campus.

The latest development in one of Monmouth's newest academic majors is a growing partnership between the college and Jupiter Machine Tool, Inc., that connects classroom learning with practical application.

On May 21, the partnership will be highlighted at the final meeting of Monmouth Associates for the 2025-26 academic year. The program will begin at noon in Mellinger Commons on the lower level of the Center for Science and Business.

Jupiter CEO Ray Whitehead and Monmouth physics professor Chris Fasano will discuss the collaboration, which allows students to engage with advanced manufacturing practices, take on hands-on projects, and explore clear pathways into engineering careers. Partnerships like these demonstrate how Monmouth College connects with local businesses to strengthen employment pipelines, support career development, and keep talented graduates in the area.

The presentation is free, but there is a $15 charge per ticket to eat lunch at the event. Individuals attending the meal are asked to make reservations by May 18 at 309-457-2291 or at alumni@monmouthcollege.edu.

Parking is available in the Center for Science and Business lot or along Broadway.
