Monmouth Cross Country Teams Earn All-Academic Awards
Both men's and women's programs honored
MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/01/2021) — Despite not getting a season in the fall, the Monmouth College cross country teams have both earned All-Academic team awards for 2020 from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This marks the third year in a row that both the men's and women's program have earned the honor.
The Fighting Scots women posted a team GPA of 3.45 to earn the 13th USTFCCA All-Academic team honor in program history. They have earned the award in six straight seasons, tying a school record set from 1993-98.
The men's team posted a team GPA of 3.17. This is the first time in Monmouth College history that the men's team has earned the honor in three straight seasons.
"In a year where everything has been different, it is great to see the teams keep their focus on their academics," said head coach Jon Welty. "This group has always done an amazing job in the classroom and it's just amazing to see that nothing can get in the way of that."
To qualify for the All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative 3.1 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the most recent grading period.
