Monmouth Women's Water Polo Makes Move in Preseason Poll
Monmouth, IL (01/15/2020) — Ranked fifth in last season's Women's Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III poll, the Monmouth College squad moved up the rankings for 2020.
The CWPA poll just released on the association's website placed the Fighting Scots third with 91 points, behind top-ranked Macalester's 98 points and No. 2 Austin College which garnered 94 points. Carthage College (70) and Grove City College (48) round out the top five. Connecticut College and Wittenberg University also received votes.
The Scots return four of the top five scorers from last season for head coach Peter Ollis, now in his fifth year guiding the program. In addition to the veteran firepower, the team welcomes a talented recruiting class for the 2020 season which opens for Monmouth Feb. 22 at Macalester where they'll face the University of La Verne and Carthage College. The Scots will host a four-team round robin tournament Mar. 7-8 in their only home event this season.
