NCAA Cancels Championships, MWC Suspends Season, Monmouth College Schedule Under Evaluation
Monmouth, IL (03/13/2020) — All Midwest Conference spring regular-season competition and league championships have been suspended until further notice. This suspension, which decided in a meeting of the Midwest Conference Presidents' Council Friday morning, is effective beginning, Friday, March 13.
Midwest Conference staff leadership and the Presidents' Council will continue to monitor the rapidly evolving situation of COVID-19 and assess the status of spring athletics events.
The decision only affects Midwest Conference spring teams (baseball, softball, tennis, track). Monmouth's non-Midwest Conference teams (lacrosse, golf, water polo) are not affected by the decision. As of now, their contests will continue. That may change, however, as circumstances evolve.
