Next Monmouth Associates on Feb. 20 to feature college's educational studies department

by Barry McNamara

Monmouth, Ill. (02/13/2025) — Students majoring in educational studies at Monmouth College are being taught how to teach. Members of that academic department will dive deeper into that process at the next meeting of Monmouth Associates on the college's campus.

The luncheon, which will be held at noon Feb. 20 in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room in Stockdale Center, will feature students, faculty and staff discussing course offerings, specific disciplines and what's next for the college's exemplary educational studies program.

The Associates program is intended to bring the campus and local community together, and that's a facet of the educational studies department, as well, as one of the key components of the program is sending its majors into local school districts as student teachers. Another means of connection is the work the department does with the community at the Monmouth College Educational Garden and Farm.

The presentation is free, but there is a $15 charge per ticket to eat lunch at the event. Individuals attending the meal are asked to make reservations by Feb. 18 at 309-457-2323 or at alumni@monmouthcollege.edu.

Parking is available in the Stockdale Center lot or along North Ninth Street during event time. Vehicles left parked after the event can be ticketed.
