Scots Hold Position After Heartbreaker

Monmouth and Lake Forest played even for nearly 90 minutes, but the tide went the Foresters' way in the final seconds to hang a 2-1 loss on the Scots at Peacock Park Saturday afternoon.
The Scots scored early on a Duh Thang goal in the fifth minute and kept Lake Forest out of the net until the 54th minute. Lake Forest fired off 19 shots in the game, 10 on goal as Kieren Marshall turned in an eight-save effort. The Foresters upped the pressure late, and after an offsides stalled their offense, countered for the winning goal as time expired.
The loss dropped the Scots to 2-2-2 in the Midwest Conference, but Monmouth stayed in fifth, two points out of a postseason berth with three games to play. Monmouth hosts Lawrence, No. 3 in the standings, Sunday at 1:30 at Peacock Park.
