Scots Win Six Events at Bumble Rumble Track Meet
Monmouth competes in first road meet of season
MONMOUTH, Ill. (01/21/2023) — The Monmouth College men's and women's track & field teams competed in the first road meet of the season, appearing in the Bumble Rumble at St. Ambrose University on Saturday. The Scots took first place in six events on the day with five titles on the men's side
Men
Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) won the weight throw for the second week in a row, setting a new PR at 17.92. Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) finished third with a new PR of 17.35m. Those performances rank Anderson seventh and Toberman eighth on the Scots all-time weight throw list.
Reed Wilson (Normal, Illinois) won the pole vault as he cleared 4.71m. Wilson has won the pole vault at 10 indoor team meets in his career including seven in a row dating back to last season. Reed Bona (Dyersburg, Tennessee) was third at 4.11m
Freshmen Patrick Curry Jr. (Chicago, Illinois) and Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) went 1-2 in the high jump, both competing in the event for the first time as collegians. They both cleared 1.85m with Curry winning the event with less misses. Maurice Greene (Galesburg, Illinois) won the triple jump with a leap of 12.41m.
Freshmen Luke Jachimiec (Aurora, Illinois) and Seth Johnson (Victoria, Illinois) tied for third in the long jump at 5.70m. Eli Perry (Mt. Prospect, Illinois) took second in the 800m with a time of 2:05.68.
The men won the 4x400m relay in 3:30.43, nearly two seconds faster than last week. The relay consisted of Bona, Perry, Curry, and Outlaw.
Women
The Scots went 1-2-3 in the weight throw as Amanda Dybal (Apex, North Carolina) won for the second week in a row. Her throw of 15.42m is a new season and career high, beating Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) who threw 14.89m and Addi Cox (Morton, Illinois) at 14.02m. Boley also took third in the shot put with a PR of 12.26m.
The Scots took 2nd and 3rd in the long jump. Lauren Anderson (Cambridge, Illinois) was second at 4.79m while Alyssa Villarreal (Galesburg, Illinois) was right behind her at 4.76m. Anderson also tied for second in the high jump at 1.50m, a new season-high.
Carina Engst (Bloomington, Illinois) took third in the triple jump at 10.24m and second in the 400m race at 1:06.56.
The Scots will next be in action on Saturday, Jan. 28 when they head to Grinnell, Iowa.
