Monmouth held Knox scoreless for all but a four-minute span, falling to the Prairie Fire 2-0 Tuesday at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park. Kieren Marshall turned aside both shots he faced in the first half and made five saves in the game, but took the loss when Knox scored an unassisted goal in the 55th minute. Four minutes later, the Fire scored and insurance goal off a rebound and held off the hard-charging Scots in the final 30 minutes.
The Scots mustered six shots, but only one on goal as both team's defenses allowed few opportunities. Knox outshot Monmouth 15-6, putting seven on frame.
Monmouth travels to Illinois College for a 3:30 contest on Friday.
