Volleyball Drops Pair on Saturday
MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/27/2025) — The Monmouth College volleyball team dropped two matches on Saturday in Rock Island. The Scots (4-9) lost to Luther in five in the opening match and fell to host Augustana in three. No stats were provided by Augustana.
Monmouth won the opening set against future Midwest Conference opponent Luther 25-20. The Norse took the second set 25-23 before the Scots won 25-22 to take a 2-1 lead. Luther tied the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth set and they won the match 15-8 in the fifth.
In the second match, Monmouth dropped the opening set 25-21 to host Augustana. The Vikings took the second set 25-16. The third set went back and forth and soared past 25 before Augustana won 31-29 to sweep the match.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Monmouth is 5-7 all-time against Luther and the teams are 2-2 head to head over the last four seasons ... Last year the Scots won in five against the Norse ,,, Next year the teams will meet in Midwest Conference play ... The Scots are 2-4 in 5-set matches this season ... Augustana is 34-25 against the Scots with eight straight wins ... The Scots are next in action on Saturday, Oct. 4 with a trip to Elmhurst.
